The Story

This 19th-century Camphor is among John Derian's trove of handpicked vintage & antique goods. In the 1800s, Chinese artisans made painted leather camphor chests for trade with the West. Often decorated with colorful designs, these chests were often used to store clothes or valuables, and made with camphor wood to help to keep insects away.
