19th Century Grain Painted Chest

This 19th-century trunk is among John Derian's trove of handpicked vintage & antique goods. This Flat-top wooden trunk has black painted bands and a thin gold stripe along the top and bottom edges. The wood shows a wavy grain pattern and a reddish-brown finish with a darker border. From the 1800s, it is made of pine and likely used for storing and carrying belongings. Flat tops made them easy to stack.
