The Story
This Chinese export style dinner plate set by Samson of Paris is among John Derian's trove of handpicked vintage & antique goods. Crafted in the 19th century, the round plates feature hand-painted Famille rose floral motifs, gilded borders, and a central armorial crest topped with a crown and heraldic animals. Known for their refined reproductions, the Samson workshop drew heavily from 18th-century Chinese export porcelain, faithfully recreating the elegance of original Qing dynasty wares. An iron red pseudo mark appears on the reverse, characteristic of the firm's approach.
