19th-century Persian Lacquered Qalamdan Pen Box with Horse Motif

Among John Derian's trove of handpicked vintage & antique goods, is this handcrafted wooden pen box, known as a qalamdan. Traditionally used to hold calligraphy tools, this elaborately decorated box with a hand-painted floral and equestrian motifs is finished with glossy lacquer and opens with a sliding lid that pulls out from the side.
