This 18th-century portrait painting hails from John Derian's curated collection of antique art. Known for his realistic and well-executed portraits, artist Richard Jennys (1734-1809) often featured half-length, three-quarter poses of prominent New Milford, CT citizens with dark backgrounds, a style evident in this portrait of Betty Ferriss Bostwick.
